Ras Al Khaimah is one of the world’s fastest growing tourism destinations, which boasts a rich culture and long-standing history dating back 7,000 years. The Emirate boasts an array of archaeological sites and breath-taking natural vistas, from golden sand beaches, awe-inspiring terracotta dunes and a green belt of date palms to Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE.
Inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, tourism became a priority on the government’s agenda. Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), has transformed the tourism industry in the emirate with the launch of its first tourism strategy – Vision 2019 that focuses on attracting one million visitors by the end of 2018. The strategy sets out a clear roadmap for the future of tourism in the emirate, supported by the various strategic partners and stakeholders in RAK and is expected to be a game changer by the year 2019.
Hotels across Ras Al Khaimah recorded a 10% increase in occupancy throughout 2016, reporting an average of 71% from January to December. Similar growth was posted across all key performance indicators with RevPAR increasing by 5.5% year-on-year 2015, while Room Revenue grew 10%.
